Robert Lee Dye, Sr., 82 of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at his home.
He was born on January 27, 1924 in Etna, MO, the son of DeLoss and Mable Mohr Dye. He married Josephine Dresden in 1947.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
He had been employed at Fruehauf in Ft. Madison, IA for 20 years, and retired from there. He was a member of the VFW Post 3508 in Keokuk, IA and the Keokuk Saddle Club.
Robert loved horses and taking care of them. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by one daughter Orma Andrews and her husband Steve of Keokuk, IA, four sons, Robert Dye and his wife Cathy of Keokuk, IA, Steve Dye and his wife Kathy of Keokuk, IA, Martin Dye and his wife Kathy of Donnellson, IA., and David Dye and Tammy Horner of Keokuk, IA, nineteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, Helen Overfield of Memphis, MO, Dorothy Luedtke of Keokuk, IA and Betty Sinclair of Webb City, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Dye.
Graveside services with military rites were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Dan Davis officiating.
