Robert "Danny" Daniel Vermazen, 65 of Phoenix, AZ died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the North Sun City Palliative Care Unit in Sun City, AZ. He was born on September 17, 1947 in Keokuk, IA the son of Robert and Ila Mae Kite Vermazen. On December 23, 1988, Dan was united in marriage to Shelly Lynn Gilkinson in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. Other survivors include, four sons, Kurt Vermazen (Kristy) of Fort Dodge, IA, Kory Vermazen ( Carrie) of Montrose, IA, Klay Vermazen ( Sara) of Donnellson, IA and Kacey Vermazen of Lakemoor, IL, one step-daughter, Tobi Hoyer (Toby) of Albernette, IA, fourteen grandchildren, Kelsey, Jacob, Jenna, Kallie, Kyler, Kielly, Kolton, Kody, Matthew, Tyler, Elin and Landon Vermazen, Nathan Banks and Tanner Hoyer, two sisters, Carolyn Eigenfeld (Roger) of Madison, WI and Becky McCorkle (Corky) of Knoxville, IA, one brother, Jim Vermazen (Vicki) of Montrose, IA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kristine Vermazen. Danny had been employed as a union carpenter his entire life. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 11th, 2013 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Dan Davis officiating.
