Robert "Bud" Shipley, 68, of Wayland, Missouri died Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born May 16, 1944 in Revere, Missouri the son of Raymond Thomas and Sarah Jane Irvin Shipley. Bud graduated from Revere High School with the class of 1962. He had worked as an Iron Worker for Local #577. He was a member of the Missouri Longriders, Iron Workers Local #577, St. Michaels Catholic Church, and was a social member of the VFW. Bud was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed boating, horse racing and trail riding. He loved spending time with friends and family socializing. He is survived by a longtime companion, Linda Smeltser of Wayland, Mo, a son, Scott Smeltser and his wife Stefanie of Clarksville, IA, two sisters, Kay Wood and her husband David, and Linda Byrn both of Kahoka, Mo, two brothers Francis "Skeet" Shipley and his wife Cheryl of Revere, Mo, and Thomas Shipley and his wife Kathy of Kahoka, Mo, two grandsons Joseph and Jonathan Smeltser of Clarksville, IA, seven nephews, Mike Wood, Jeff Wood, Rex Wood, Frank Shipley, Steve Shipley, Matthew Shipley, and Erick Byrn. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a brother, and a sister. Mass of Christian Burial was held 10 a.m. Friday, April 26th, 2013 at the St. Michaels Catholic church in Kahoka with Father Nicholas Reid officiating. Burial was in the Revere Cemetery. Memorials may be made to an education fund for his grandsons or the VFW Post #4342.
