Robert Gus "Bob" Stark, 85 of Keokuk died Monday, November 4, 2013 at his home. He was born May 24, 1928 in Alliance, NE the son of Ernest and Edna Parks Stark. On June 10, 1966 Bob was united in marriage to Sandy Stark in Keokuk. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Shane Stark of West Des Moines, IA and one grandson, Owen Stark of West Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Bob graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, IA with the Class of 1946. As a sophomore he placed 2nd in the State Wrestling Tournament. Bob was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard and served during WW II. He was employed as a Parts Manager for 44 years and worked at Koch Auto Sales and Delashmutt Chevrolet later known as McCredie Motors and Zick Motors. He retired in 1992. Bob was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk. He was a fifty year member of the Keokuk Elks Lodge. Bob was an avid sports fan. He was a strong supporter of the Keokuk High School sports program and attended almost every Keokuk Chief sporting event. He enjoyed playing golf and also bowling on Sunday night Mixed League and Wednesday night Industrial League. He enjoyed watching stockcar races, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 15th, 2013 at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Matt Hunt officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Keokuk Sports Boosters, the St. Paul United Church of Christ or the Lee County Hospice.
