Robert R. "Bob" Anderson, 90 of Keokuk passed away at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
He was born February 28, 1927 in Croton, IA, the son of Perry and Gladys Calvert Anderson. He was a graduate of Farmington High School with the Class of 1945. He was joined in marriage to Ruth Ina Slater on June 30, 1950. She preceded him in death on December 3, 1965, a victim of the Thanksgiving Eve Keokuk Armory explosion. He later married Marilyn Krehbiel Jabour on June 14, 1969 and they enjoyed over forty-eight years together.
Bob had been employed at State Central Bank for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed making the coffee and bringing treats for his fellow employees, whom he thought of as his second family.
He was a long time member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Keokuk. He served in various capacities and was financial secretary for many years. After his retirement and for as long as he was able, he kept the grass cut and trimmed at the church and took pride in his work.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Keokuk, and his two daughters, Pam (Pat) Mahoney of Montrose and Jill (Kip) Myers of Keokuk. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Barb (Gary) Anderson of Waterloo, IA, Ginny (Larry) Dusanek of Ft. Madison, IA and John (Dodie) Jabour of Clive, IA, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ruth Ina, sister, Marie Bideaux and brothers, Herman and Bernard and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Keokuk with Pastor Jeff Bixby officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Garden in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Friday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with the family meeting with friends from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel UMC or HCI hospice. The family would like to thank the nurses and CNAs at River Hills for the special care they took of Bob while he was a resident.
