View Video Tribute Richard C. Worster, 78, of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on April 14, 1931 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Raymond L. and Vera Currier Worster. On June 11, 1961, Richard was united in marriage to Judith Mahannah at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter Wendy Cole and her fiancé Steve McMillan of Charlotte, NC, one son, Stephen Worster and his wife Andrea of Keokuk, two grandchildren, Brendan and Addalyn Worster of Keokuk, one brother, Robert L. Worster of Chicago, IL, one sister, Mary Margaret Bartels and her husband Eston of Iowa City, IA, his mother-in-law, Jean Mahannah of Keokuk, one sister-in-law, Shirley Haas and her husband Charles of La Crosse, WS, one brother-in-law, David Mahannah and his wife Trudy of Ludington, MI, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Paul Mahannah. Richard graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Richard attended Keokuk Community College and then transferred to Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Throughout his banking career he attended banking schools at the Ohio State University and the University of Virginia. He had been employed as a loan officer at State Central Bank in Keokuk and then became branch manager of Midwest Federal Savings and Loan in Keokuk and United Federal Savings and Loan in Hamilton, IL. Following his retirement from the bank, he worked as a police dispatcher for the Keokuk Police Department, retiring in 1996. Richard was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA where he once served on the consistory and as a Trustee. He had also served as Treasurer of the United Way in Keokuk. Richard enjoyed watching the History Channel, airplanes and trains and starting handyman projects. He loved sports and especially enjoyed following his son's Babe Ruth and High School coaching career. Richard was a very caring man and was devoted to his wife and children. He adored his two grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 16 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend John Tyler officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital in honor of his granddaughter, Addalyn.
