Richard Roller, 72, of Kahoka formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, June 15 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. He was born May 16, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Noble Lester and Vivian Jane Berrie Roller. He married Shirley Lorene Protsman and later divorced. He graduated from Revere High School with the Class of 1959. In 1961 he graduated from Ames Trade School in Ames, Iowa. He was a lifelong bricklayer, working mostly in St. Joseph and Kansas City. He built his home and garage next door to his son near St. Joseph where he lived for the last 20 years until ill health brought him back to Kahoka. He loved his family. His sons and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He talked about them a lot. He loved fishing, woodworking, old movies, Nascar races and working on cars. He is survived by his sons; Richard Roller and his wife Nancy of Knoxville, Tennessee and Gregory Roller of St. Joseph, Missouri, his grandchildren; Karl Roller, Kert Roller, Katelin Roller, Richard Roller, Dakota Roller, Chris Berry and Rachelle Rimmer, his brothers and sisters; Timothy Roller and his wife Gerry of Knoxville, TN, Thomas Roller and his wife Sally of Kansas City, Rex Roller and his wife Joan, Judy Sawyer and her husband Gerald, Nancy Edlen and her husband Jack, Gloria Kiger and her husband Larry, Jacquilyn Boatman all of Kahoka and Kelly Varnold and her husband Darrell of Moberly, MO, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Trevor Roller, three brothers; David Kephart and his wife Jackie, Kenneth Roller, Tony Roller, his sister; Susan Redding and her husband Keith, brother in law; Jim Boatman, and two nieces; Kari Wright and Barbara "Bobbi" Edlen Blackburn. Memorial services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with Pastor Tim Roller and Pastor Glen Yoder officiating. Memorials may be made to the Bible Baptist Church Missions.
