Richard Wayne Lorenz, 77, of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at River Hills Village in Keokuk. He was born on March 28, 1938 in Keokuk, IA, the son of DeVore and Evelyn Merchant Lorenz. On November 28, 1958 Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Steenberg in Keokuk, IA. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1999. Richard had been employed at Burlington Northern Railroad for fifteen years and retired in 1983. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk and a former member of the Elks Club. Richard enjoyed playing golf and taking trips to Branson, MO. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He is survived by two sons, Darren Lorenz of Utah and Devin Lorenz of Keokuk, one daughter, Patti Rashid and her husband David of Kahoka, MO, grandchildren, Kristianna Lorenz of Carthage, IL, Elysia Rashid, David Rashid, II and George Rashid all of Kahoka and, several nieces and nephews. Richard's pride and joy was his granddaughter Kristianna, who along with Devin, helped care for Richard during the final journey of his life. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ron and Jerry Lorenz. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
