Richard Walter Jordan, 92, of Keokuk passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025 at his home.
He was born November 8, 1932 in Montrose, IA the son of Walter and Lily Silvers Jordan.
He graduated from Montrose High School with the Class of 1951. After high school Richard joined the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.
On July 16, 1955, he was united in marriage to Doris Lerche in Fort Madison, Iowa. She preceded him in death. He later married Joan Nichols on November 10, 2001, in Keokuk. She survives.
Richard is also survived by his daughter, Carol Jordan (Terry Goforth) of Palmyra; two grandsons, Tanner Simpson and Jordan Simpson both of Fort Madison; and two nephews, Rick Berry (Judy) and Ron Berry (Tammy). He is also survived by Joan's children, Steven Nichols (Karen), Dean Nichols (Toni) and Scott Nichols (Teresa) and their children
In addition to his first wife, Doris, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Berry; two brothers, Ron Jordan and Dale Jordan; and a nephew, Rusty Berry.
Richard worked for the United States Postal Service for many years before retiring in 1991.
He was a lifelong sports enthusiast with a deep love for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He rarely missed a Cardinals game, often cheering them on from his favorite chair and keeping up with every stat and score throughout the season. Whether it was baseball in the summer or Hawkeye football in the fall, Richard enjoyed discussing the latest games with family and friends.
A graveside service with military rites was held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Oakland Cemetery in Ft. Madison with Dawn Farris officiating.
Visitation was held prior to the service from 11a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the family meeting with friends at that time.
Memorials may be made to PAWS in Ft. Madison, New Testament Christian Church, or St. Jude' Childrens Hospital..
The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
