Obituary

Rex Earl Goldsberry, 62, of Kahoka, MO, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Rex was born July 11, 1943 in Burlington, IA, a son of Joseph Ellis and Garnet Irene Blaine Goldsberry. Rex and his family moved to Kahoka when he was four years old. He grew up in Kahoka and graduated from Kahoka High School in May of 1961. Following high school, he worked as a produce manager for Luther Pohlman in a grocery store in Kahoka. On September 21, 1966, Rex was inducted into the United States Air Force. He served as a computer maintenance specialist at Whitman, Texas, Biloxi, Mississippi, and Kirksville, Missouri. After completing his military obligation in September of 1970, he enrolled at Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville, MO. He graduated from college with a BS in business administration in May of 1972. Rex was united in marriage to Nancy Louise Littrell on June 3, 1972 in Milan, MO. They had two children, Chad and Jada. Rex and Nancy moved to Kahoka in 1975. He started Goldsberry 's Service and operated it until his health forced him to retire in April of 2005. He attended the Kahoka United Methodist Church and was baptized into that faith on July 6, 2005. He enjoyed attending car shows, fishing, and reading, and watching science fiction. Most of all, he cherished his family and delighted in his children. Survivors include his wife Nancy, of Kahoka, his mother, Garnet of Kahoka, his son Chad Goldsberry of Chicago, IL, his daughter Jada Hammack and her husband Kelly of Kansas City, MO, one brother, Richard Goldsberry and his wife Gail of Loveland, CO, one sister, Jacqualyn Kephart and her husband David of Normal, IL, his father and mother-in-law, Ross and Frances Littrell of Mendon, MO, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services were held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Kahoka, MO with Pastor Deborah Schmidt officiating. A private burial service will be held at the Mendon Cemetery, Mendon, MO at a later date. Visitation was held from 1-2 P.M Saturday, November 12 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the Kahoka United Methodist Church.
