Retha G. Steenberg, 83, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. She was born on March 23, 1927 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Charles W. and Blanche Bartholomew Brice. On June 30, 1944, Retha was united in marriage to Clayton Steenberg in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2003. Retha graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1944. She had been employed at McFarland Office Supply in Keokuk for two years in the late 1950's. Retha was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA. She enjoyed flower gardening and took great pride in growing her beautiful roses. Retha also enjoyed reading and spending time with her precious grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter, Sue McDeid and her husband Jerry of Warsaw, IL, three sons, Gary S. Steenberg and his wife Jean of Danielsville, GA, Clayton Steenberg, Jr. and his wife Teri of Bullhead City, AZ and Mike Steenberg and his wife Laura of Keokuk, five grandchildren, Wendy Toll, Denise Steenberg, Kyra Steenberg, Jessica Steenberg and Donovan Steenberg and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Richard Brice and two sisters, Marcella Brice and Rosa Steele. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 9 at the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk with Reverend Emmanuel Dass officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
