Obituary

Raymond E. Tallman, 68, of Keokuk died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at his home. He was born November 16, 1948 in Hannibal, MO the son of Alice Tallman. On June 30, 1972, Raymond was united in marriage to Sheryl Scholl in Palmyra, MO. They enjoyed forty-five years of marriage together. She survives. Other survivors include, two sons, Raymond "Joe" Tallman of Keokuk and Ryan "Jamie" Tallman (Courtney) of St. Louis, MO, eight grandchildren, Alexis Tallman of Wichita, KS, Jalen Tallman of Dallas City, IL, Leddia Tallman of Keokuk, Layton Tallman of Lomax, IL, Abby Tallman of Hamilton, IL, Sammy Tallman of Hamilton, IL, Canyon Tallman of St. Louis, MO and Carrigan Tallman of St. Louis, MO, two sisters, Susie Riquier of Niantic, CT and Mary Edmiston of Keokuk, four brothers, Pat Keefe of Keokuk, Kirk Keefe (Jackie) of Keokuk, Byron Keefe (Pamela) of Muscatine, IA and David Keefe (Amy) of Argyle, IA, is mother-in-law, Mary Scholl of Hannibal, MO, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother and his step-father, Alice and Earl Mahoney, his in-laws, Joe and Diane Scholl, one son, Jerrud Tallman, three brothers, Chuck, Estel and Mike, one nephew, Brett Edmiston and aunts and uncles. Raymond was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Two weeks before his high school graduation he joined the army to fight in Vietnam. After he was discharged from the Army in 1969, he joined the Iowa National Guard and served until 1996. He had been employed at ADM in Keokuk for twenty-nine years and retired in 2010 due to failing health. Before his illness, Ray loved to fish, go camping, do woodworking, mow grass and work in his yard. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed the times he was able to take his family to see Cardinal games at Busch stadium. Ray was a wonderful husband and a devoted dad and grandpa and loved to spend time with his family. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Dawn Farris. Burial with military rites were held in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
