Raymond Leroy Johnson

Raymond Leroy Johnson, 63, of Keokuk, IA, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at his home. He was born on March 23, 1953 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Glen and Mona Hileman Johnson. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1971. He had worked at Morse Chain in Keokuk and most recently had been employed at Auto Zone in Keokuk. Raymond enjoyed participating in drag racing in his younger years and continued to enjoy watching races throughout his life. He also enjoyed fishing and watching television. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and spending time with them was something he treasured. He is survived by one daughter Darcy Johnson of Keokuk, five grandchildren, Abigail Kruse, Faith Kruse, Kendall Kruse, Alex Best and Terrance Best, one sister, Glenda (Russell) Branson of Anson, MO, one brother, Todd Johnson of Keokuk, one half-sister, Joyce (Scott) Young of Donnellson, IA, his step-mother, Margeruitte Johnson of Donnellson, two step-sisters, Cheryl Baker of Ft. Madison and Donna Childress of Murray, KY, one step-brother, Gerald Woodley of Donnellson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Diana Kulka, a nephew, Robert Branson and two nieces, Kelly Smith and Melissa Woodley. A Gathering of Remembrance was held from 2 pm-4 pm Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the family meeting with friends at that time. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
