Obituary

Ramon Leon Dains, 73, passed away Monday, December 17th, 2012 at the Keokuk, Area Hospital after being a resident of Montebello Health Center in Hamilton, Illinois for three years. He was born in Keokuk on June 18, 1939 the son of James Ray and Minnie Neal Dains. Although he was a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NV and Ft. Madison, IA, he always considered Keokuk his hometown. In June of 1957 he married, Jeanne Ann (Kirchner) Willson. They divorced in 1970. He is survived by three daughters, Karla Sherwood of Burlington, Iowa, Martha Dayns of Sacramento, California and Eva Rashid of Kingman, Arizona and one brother, Jerald Seth (Shirley) of Ontario, California. He also was grandfather to six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by many of his nieces, nephews, cousins, Charles Davis and friends who recall his laughter and his enjoyment telling many jokes. He was preceded in death by his parents and five of the seven children, two sisters, Dorothy Brown of Boise Idaho, Donna Rae (Ross)Wear of Carthage, Illinois; three brothers, Marvin Gene (Donna), Kenneth Max (Sally) and David Allen. He had worked many jobs including a master meat cutter at Mary & Sons & Hy-Vee in Fort Madison and several construction jobs & side jobs kept him busy. Raymon always had a story to tell about his hunting and fishing trips with his brothers and Jack Elder. Ramon spent several years in Las Vegas with his longtime companion Geraldine. Ramon had a love of life and everyone around him. He was quick to offer up stories of his childhood with all his brothers & sisters in Keokuk, Iowa. Graveside services and a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date in March at the Charleston Cemetery in Charleston, Iowa.
