Ralph Lorentzen, 73, of Kahoka died Wednesday, May 28 at his home in Kahoka. He was born May 11, 1941 in Williamstown, MO, the son of Lorentz and Ester Forquer Lorentzen. In 1965 he was united in marriage to Sharon Haage in Kahoka, MO. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Brian Lorentzen and his wife Miriam of Keokuk, Paul Lorentzen and his wife Priscilla of Montrose, IA, three daughters, Karla Lorentzen-Wixom and her husband Carl of Kahoka, Peggy Lemaster and her husband Kerry of Keokuk, Phyllis Wiedow and her husband Bruce of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Dacia Leggett, Jared Leggett, Corinne Lorentzen, and Sarah Foley, three great grandchildren, Tristan Fry, Braden Fry, and Jailyn Leggett, a sister Ruth Edmondson of Keokuk, an uncle Jessie Forquer and his wife Wilma of Medill, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Lorentzen. Ralph worked at Roquette for 28 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Missouri Longriders, a social member of the VFW, was a past president of the Southside Boat Club, and was a member of the BCTGM Local 48G. Ralph enjoyed making his own jerky and homemade wieners. He liked to go fishing, and working with horses and mules. Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
