Obituary

Ralph Robert "Bob" Cruze, 70, of Argyle, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, Feb 13th at University of Iowa Hospitals. He was born in Keokuk, IA to Ralph and Audrey Altop Cruze on August 4, 1942. He married Bonita Evermon and she preceded him in death. He married Betty Clemenson on March 14, 1997. She survives. Additional survivors are: sons William (Robyn) Cruze of Sachse, Texas and Mark Cruze of Red Oak; stepdaughter Tammy (Mike) Koolbeck of Cedar Rapids; stepsons Scott (Dr Carmen) Clemenson of Cedar Rapids and Tony (Sheri) Clemenson of Norwalk, Iowa; grandchildren Britanie and Aaron Cruze of Sachse, Texas, Tyler Koolbeck of Cedar Rapids, Chloe and Cody Clemenson of Cedar Rapids, and Isabelle and Margret Clemenson of Norwalk; great-grandchildren Johnathon, Angel and Elizabeth Spence, and Joseph and Christian Cruze all of Sachse, Texas; mother-in-law Margeret B. Dresser of Keokuk, Iowa; brothers-in-law Billy Powers of Jefferson, Ohio, and Raymond (Sandy) Dresser of Keokuk; sisters-in-laws Sue (Joe) Rex of Bonaparte, Iowa, Maryella (Neil) Johnson of Keokuk, Alice (Ken) Niemeyer of Fulton, Mo., and Ann (Mike) Penrod of Donnellson; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, his sister Catherine Powers, daughter-in-law, Sharon Jinkens Cruze, granddaughter Rachel Spence and great-granddaughter Alex Spence. Bob worked many jobs growing up but was an electrician at the Dial Corporation for 25 years, retiring in 1994 due to ill health. He served in the U.S. Army and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting and spoiling the grandchildren. In recent years, he began making frames out of recovered barn wood for his mother-in-law's jigsaw puzzles. He had a lot of pain in his life, besides the loss of a limb. It was amazing to his family that he was able to have as much love and kindness in his heart with that much pain. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 in Oakland Sand Cemetery at Vincennes, IA with Rev. John Abraham officiating. His body has been cremated Memorials may be directed to the Melrose United Methodist Church for the addition of an accessible ramp. The family requests no flowers.
