Phyllis Weirather, 85, of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA. She was born on June 29, 1926 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Frank and Lillian Swan. On August 8, 1946, Phyllis was united in marriage to Harold Weirather in Keokuk, IA. He survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Sue Merschman and her husband Paul of West Point, IA, Tina Smith of Denver, CO and Betty Harple of Atlanta, GA, four sons, Thomas Weirather of Keokuk, IA, Don Weirather and his wife Roberta of Reynoldsburg, OH, Steve Weirather of Lawrenceville, GA and Victor Weirather of Liberty, MO, eleven grandchildren, Kurt, Randy & Karen Merschman, Kasey Smith, Jared & Darin Weirather, Carmella McKee, Stacey Ferrin, Paula Salyer, and Jorie and Ben Weirather, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Betty Decker of Ft. Madison, IA and several nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Warren "Bud" Swan. Phyllis graduated from Keokuk High School in Keokuk, IA. She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, IA. Phyllis was a homemaker and was devoted to her husband and children. She always put her family first and was a partner with her husband on their dairy farm. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled on several leagues. Phyllis had served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile for many years Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Deacon Bill Cosgrove officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the Nationwide Children's Hospital of Columbus, OH.
