Peyton Lee Davis, 2 month old infant daughter of Casey and Brandy Davis, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics due to a rare congenital heart defect. She was born on March 8, 2015 in Iowa City, IA the daughter of Casey and Brandy Taylor Davis. Peyton is survived by her parents of Keokuk, two brothers, Taylor Davis and Jamie Davis, both of Keokuk, maternal grandparents, Ron and Brenda Taylor of Keokuk, paternal grandmother, Barb Davis of Keokuk, maternal great-grandmothers, Gloria Mitchell and Merlin Taylor both of Keokuk, paternal great-grandmother, Hazel Lee of Alexandria, MO, one aunt, Heidi Davis of Keokuk, three uncles, Ronnie Taylor, Casey Taylor and Scott Davis all of Keokuk and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal great-uncle, Chuck Mitchell, maternal great-grandfathers, Virgil Robert Mitchell and Arlis "Muggs" Taylor, paternal grandfather, Richard Davis, paternal great-grandparents, Harold "Porky" and Marilyn Davis, and cousins Mindy Taylor, Vince Mitchell and Jamie Joy. Peyton's time on earth was all too brief but she was a strong fighter and struggled bravely through her short life. She had big, beautiful brown eyes that spoke to you and soft blonde hair that you couldn't resist fluffing up. She loved holding her mother's finger and gripped it with all her might. Everyone that met Peyton loved her. The nurse's in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit thought of her as the Princess of the Unit. A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial with family meeting with friends at that time. Memorials may be made to the family.
