Pearl Marie Tweedy, 95, of rural Keokuk, IA, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA.
She was born on January 17, 1914 in rural Montrose, IA, the daughter of Lloyd and Cora Hamilton Harman. On September 5, 1932, Pearl was united in marriage to Kenneth William Tweedy. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1998.
Pearl graduated from Montrose High School with the Class of 1932.
She attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montrose, IA. She was a member of the Montrose Garden Club and the Lee County Ladies Extension Club. She had served as a 4 –H Leader and also played the piano for programs and activities at the Ashland School in rural Montrose, IA. Pearl was a wonderful mother and homemaker and loved caring for her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Marian Knight and her husband Robert of Donnellson, IA, Marjorie Johnson of Montrose, IA, one son, Karl Tweedy and his wife Ardath of Keokuk, one daughter-in-law, Carol J. Tweedy of Keokuk, sixteen grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one sister, Leatha Jane Thacher of Wilmington, NC, four sisters-in-law, Edith Tweedy, Elizabeth Dresser, Phoebe Tweedy and Virginia Pezley and two brothers-in-law, Eston Woodruff and David Tweedy and his wife Elsie.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Lloyd Tweedy in infancy and Marvin William Tweedy, her parents, one brother, James Franklin Harman, three sisters, Edna Ruble, Alta Bangert and Hazel Koehler and twin grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Burial was in the Sandusky Cemetery.
