Paula Theresa Bess, 59 of Montrose died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. She was born August 7, 1957 in Ft. Madison, the daughter of Paul and Margaret Ann Hall Holderfer. She had worked many different jobs over the years, the most recent being a vacation rental cleaning business which she was a partner of and worked there as the office manager until her retirement in 2012. She took great comfort in knowing that her guests were well cared for. Paula enjoyed all types of crafts, particularly woodworking. She loved socializing with others and had the gift of never meeting a stranger. Paula is survived by one son, Marty Jacobs (Melissa) of Donnellson, IA, one daughter, Brandy Jacobs (Anthony Quant) of Upper Sandusky Ohio, two grandchildren, Molly Jacobs and Lily Jacobs, two sisters, Mary Davidson and Millicent Sanders, one brother, Maurice Holderfer, one half-sister, Debbie Augustine, one half-brother, Mike Holderfer, and three step-sisters, Candy Gerling, Tammy Mase and Monica York. She was preceded in death by her parents. There will be no services at this time.
