Paul Lewis McGhghy, 55, of Keokuk, IA, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA as the result of injuries received in a car accident.
He was born on January 7, 1952 in Keokuk, IA, the son of James William and Mary Edna Manewal McGhghy. He married Jan Haase in 1980 and to this union were born three children, Jenica, Leah and Alyssa. Jan survives in Keokuk, IA.
He had been employed with the Local 55 in Des Moines, IA as an electrical lineman.
He attended church in Salem, Iowa
Paul loved NASCAR races and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt. He loved riding his Harley and raced Moto-X for many years. He also enjoyed rebuilding classic cars, fishing and listening to music.
He is survived by three daughters, Jenica Ball and her husband Jeff of Keokuk, IA, Leah McGhghy of Keokuk, IA and Alyssa McGhghy of Keokuk, IA, two grandchildren, Corgan and Aidan Ball, his mother, Mary McGhghy of Salem, IA, two brothers, Ted McGhghy and his wife Pam of Keokuk, IA, Don McGhghy and his wife Pam of Mission, TX, two sisters, Becky Tyler-McGhghy of Salem, IA, and Virginia Overhulser of the state of California, several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A Gathering of Remembrance was held on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends at that time.
