Paul Lee Cockrell, 55 of Keokuk died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at his home with his family at his side.
Paul was born October 11, 1960 in Keokuk the son of Gerald Allan Sr. and Sharon Lee Washburn Cockrell. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1979.
On April 25, 2015 he was united in marriage to Barbara Kirby. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Sharon of Keokuk, two brothers, Gerald Allan Cockrell Jr. and his wife Linda of Columbia, MO and Marty Cockrell and his wife Teri of Cedar Rapids, IA, six sisters, Barbara Riddle and her husband Robert, Tracey Bryant and her husband Duane, Vickie Ruffcorn and her husband Mark, Robin Steel and her husband LeLand, Heather McCarron and her husband Doug, and Melisa Capaldo and her husband Gabe all of Keokuk and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Scott Cockrell, his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country.
Paul had been employed at Keokuk Steel Castings in Keokuk for eighteen years.
He enjoyed fishing, fly fishing, archery, hunting and listening to all types of music. He was an avid "techie guy" and always had the latest electronic gadgets. He was very interested in antenna design and built every new design he discovered. He enjoyed being a HAM radio operator and talking to people from all over the world.
A graveside service with military rites was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk with Father Mark Spring officiating.
