Obituary

Patty Schreck, 69 of Wayland, MO died Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at her home. She was born October 31, 1952 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Lewis E. and Pearl McGee McVeigh. Patty was united in marriage to James L. Hecox in 1971. To this union two daughters, Tonya and April were born. In 1988 she was married to Vincent Schreck, to this union, one daughter, Kimberly was born. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1971. Patty had been employed at BTR in Keokuk until her retirement. She is survived by three daughters, Tonya Irvin (Delbert) of Kahoka, April Daniels (Troy) of Keokuk and Kimberly Buckwalter (Johnny) of Kahoka. Patty's true love was her family, especially her grandchildren: Alex Owen, Andrea Owen, Brandon Boltz, Vanessa Gray, Victoria Daniels, Marissa Daniels, Cole Brown and Camrie Buckwalter and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Mary Alvis (Craig Self) of rural Canton, MO, Emma Harris of Keokuk, IA, Lydia McVeigh (Linda) of Overland, MO and Angela McVeigh of Keokuk, IA, one brother, Lewis "Eddie" McVeigh (Debbie) of rural Canton, MO, one aunt, Emma Golliher of rural Canton, MO and many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She enjoyed sitting outside, visiting with her neighbors and tending to her flower garden. She also enjoyed helping at family yard sales and going to auctions. Patty was a wonderful cook and made the most amazing pies. She loved quilting and decorating her home. Most of all her family was her greatest passion. She took great pride in watching after her grandchildren through the years. Visitation was held from 1 – 3 p.m. on December 6, 2021 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with the family meeting with friends at that time. A memorial service was held after the visitation at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Vigen Memorial Home for final expenses or to the Blessing Foundation for the Breast Center.
