Obituary

Patricia "Patsy" Elva Mapps, 88, of St. Francisville passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at her home in St. Francisville.

She was born March 17, 1936 in San Diego, CA the daughter of Leslie and Elva Wilsey Miller. Patsy graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego, CA with the class of 1954.

She was first married to Richard Watson, and they later divorced. She then married Charles LeMaster, with whom she had two sons, Robert and Mark. After their divorce, she married Harold Swords. To this union she gained her bonus children, Sharon, Carol, and Diane. He preceded her in death. Later, she married Willie Mapps, who passed away on May 23, 2017.

Patsy was a woman of deep faith and was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Keokuk, where she found strength, community, and purpose. She had a passion for music, finding joy in playing both the piano and the accordion, often filling her home with beautiful melodies that reflected her love for hymns and gospel music. She cherished the serenity of the beach, where she could listen to the waves and feel the warmth of the sun. Patsy had a deep affection for cats, finding comfort in their companionship. Above all, she treasured her time at church, where she worshiped with devotion, drawing peace and guidance from her faith, which remained the cornerstone of her life.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert "Bob" LeMaster (Penny) of Kahoka, Mark LeMaster (Peggy Day) of Keokuk, three grandchildren, Anthony LeMaster, Andria Welch (Colin) and Landon LeMaster (Jayna). She is also survived by five great granddaughters, two great grandsons and twelve extended great grandchildren along with two nieces, Kathy Floyd, Nancy Pryor (Rick), a nephew, Tom Williams (Nancy) and her cousins, Robert Johnston (Melinda), Jeannie Smith (Garrett), and Helen Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister and a step-daughter, Diane.

A celebration of life will be held at later date.
