Oscar Billings, 71, of Keokuk, IA died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
He was born on August 12, 1939 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Albert and Dorothy McCoy Billings. On February 3, 1961, Oscar was united in marriage to Carol Sue Peterson, his loving wife for 49 years. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Bruce Alan Billings and his wife Traci Lynn and their children Bruce "B.J." Alan Billings,Jr., Nickolus Todd Billings, and Gabriale "Gabby" Lynn Billings, of Keokuk, IA, Trever Brent Billings and his son Wyatt Oscar Billings of Keokuk, IA, four sisters, Janet Rossi and her companion Whitey of Warren, VA, Mary Smith and her husband Carroll of Danville, IA , Jean Logsdon and her husband John of rural Argyle, IA, and Kathy Young and her husband Jim of Burlington, IA, two brothers, James Billings and his wife Judy of Keokuk, IA and Kenny "Chick" Billings of Keokuk, IA, and six nieces, seventeen nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward Eugene Billings and Charles Wayne Billings. He graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the class of 1957.
Oscar had been employed at Keokuk Ferro-Sil in the electrical and mechanical maintenance department for forty-two years and retired in 2001.
Oscar was an active member and trustee of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He was a member of Three Rivers Tractor Club in Donnellson, IA, the National IH Collectors Club, IH Collectors Club #5, Boy Scouts of America Troop # 43 and Troop #75, Order of the Arrow, a board member of the Scandinavian Cemetery, Board member of the KEM Credit Union for the last 30 years and presently serving as the Chairman of the Board and was past master of the Keokuk Masonic Lodge #29.
Oscar enjoyed tractors and camping. He was an avid Nascar racing fan as well as a Go Cart Crew "Chief". He was a loving grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Dave Barrett officiating. Burial was in the Scandinavian Cemetery.
