Oren Alfred "Doc" Dockum, age 83, of Keokuk, IA passed away on Saturday January 10th, 2026 in Iowa City, IA.
Oren was born on September 4th, 1942 in Keokuk, IA to Leland and Alice "Tish" (Hasper) Dockum. He was the youngest of four and grew up in Keokuk. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1960.
Oren started working at Seige Auto Parts. In 1962 he was hired by Hubingers and worked there until 1986. After, he moved to Colorado to take a job at Coor's Biotech in Johnstown, CO. He retired from Anheuser-Busch in Fort Collins, CO. His whole career was in maintenance, where he was known to be hard-working and able to fix anything. After retiring in 2015, he moved back to Keokuk.
Oren married Lila Carr on his 18th birthday in 1960 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year. Together they raised two boys Craig and Kirk. Oren enjoyed camping, boating, playing cards and hunting. When they moved to Loveland, CO, they enjoyed going to Rocky Mountain National Park for picnics and listening to the elk bugle. They traveled to Germany and visited Hawaii three times. His favorite music was Country. He was an avid Cardinals, Rockies and Broncos fan. Oren was a 50+ year member of the Masons. He was very loving and devoted.
Oren is survived by his wife Lila; sister Shirley (Wayne) Jobe; sons Craig (Kim) Dockum and Kirk (Joelene) Dockum; grandchildren Joshua (Jessamine) Dockum, Amy Dockum, Cody (Brittney) Dockum, Matthew (Kela) Dockum, Dominick Dockum and Allison (Nate) Dotson; great-grandchildren Alexander, Albion, Soren, Gunnar, Oren, Noah June and baby Dockum (on the way); many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Leland and Alice Dockum; his brother Edward Dockum and his sister Wanda Curfman.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 16 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Mary Jo Reisburg officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with family visiting with friends at that time. A Masonic service will be held following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Homeless Alliance or Trinity United Methodist Church.
