Obituary

Norman Keith Woods, 77, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 23, 1942 in Omaha, NE, the son of Ellsworth and Mary Wahl Woods. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1961. He attended Southeastern Community College and received his Associates of Arts and Science Degrees in Nursing in 1984. On May 2, 1987, Norm was united in marriage to Jayne Dye in Sandusky, IA. She survives. Together they raised two children, Michael (Ashley) Davidson and Michelle (Kep) Keppel, five grandchildren, Draven, Levi and Veda Davidson, Tanner and Kole Keppel. Norm was previously married to Shirley (Fryer) Woods. They had three children, Shelley (Bill) Carr, Tim (Lonna) Woods and Todd (Terrie) Woods, six grandsons, Zachary (Andrea) and Layton (Sarah) Travis, Tyler (Kaitlyn) Woods, Austin (Peyton) Woods and Cory (Katie) Woods and Drake Woods, and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Paul (Mary Alice) Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janet Heckard and a step grandson, Nathan Keppel. Norman had been employed at Keokuk Area Hospital as a Registered Nurse for 18 years. He also worked as Director of Nursing at Eagles Summit for eleven years. Norman enjoyed hunting for geodes, rocks and minerals and selling and trading his finds. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, jewelry making, and collecting eagle statues and pictures. A Gathering of Remembrance was held on January 7th from 4 – 6 pm at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk and the family met with friends at that time.
