Norman Rex Boehm, 87, of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Lexington Square in Keokuk.
He was born on February 3, 1929 in Keokuk, the son of Herman and Edith Link Boehm. He graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the Class of 1947.
On August 6, 1950 Rex was united in marriage to Betty Sims. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2001.
Rex was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War.
He was first employed at Schmidt Memorial Home in Keokuk for many years. He then worked for the City of Keokuk as a police dispatcher and retired in 1987.
Rex loved baseball and in his younger years he played professionally on a minor league team. He always enjoyed a good cigar.
He is survived by two daughters, Jill (Daniel) Diveley of Keokuk and Polly (Rick) Troyer of Colorado Springs, CO, one son, Kevin (Laura) Boehm of Raleigh, NC, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Ruby Korschgen of Keokuk.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Dale Boehm.
A private family graveside service will be held at Keokuk National Cemetery at a later date.
