View Video Tribute Norman Dean Allen, 83, of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. He was born on January 4, 1927 in Kahoka, MO the son of Gurden and Ada Everman Allen. Norman was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during WW II. He had been employed at Hubingers in Keokuk for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1988. Norman was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Keokuk, the Local 48 American Federation of Grain Millers and the Southside Boat Club in Keokuk. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and loved to travel and go on cruises. Norman especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by three sons, Larry Allen and his wife Lori of Quincy, IL, Rick Allen and his wife Theresa of Keokuk and Terry Allen and his friend Tammy Blanford of Keokuk, three sisters, Margaret Allen of Oklahoma, Patty Martin of Blue Springs, MO, and Judy Gutting of Carthage, IL, two brothers, Bob Allen of Kahoka, MO and Charlie Allen of Kahoka, MO, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a very special friend, Viola Roberts of Keokuk and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter at birth, two brothers, Wayne Allen and Forrest Allen and one sister, Lois Crandell. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 15 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Abegglen officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
