Norma Florilla Steffensmeier, 80, of Keokuk, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at her home.

She was born on April 28, 1945, in Keokuk, the daughter of John Louis and Lillie Flora Davis Vermeesch. Norma graduated from Keokuk High School and later from Quincy Tech.

On July 29, 1994, Norma was united in marriage to Dale Stephen Steffensmeier in Ft. Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2014.

Norma had a creative spirit and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making crafts, and gardening, especially her flowers. She loved to travel and explore new places, always eager for the adventure. A good book was one of her favorite ways to relax, and she never turned down the chance to watch a classic movie or an episode of Perry Mason. Norma also delighted in watching the hummingbirds that visited her yard.

She is survived by her daughters, Geraldine "Jeri" Arnold of Keokuk, and Linda (Dave Jennings) Murphy of St. Louis; her sons, Dexter Murphy of Navarre, FL, and Mark (Sheila) Murphy of Washington, UT; step-sons, Jeff (Kim) Steffensmeier and Steve Steffensmeier; and step-daughters, Angie (Marty) Fitzpatrick and Michelle Dershem.
