Naomi Davis, 86 of Keokuk, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, IA.
She was born August 10, 1930 in Elvaston, IL the daughter of Douglas and Leota McIlmoil Hawley. On December 13, 1952 she was united in marriage to Melvin Ernest Davis, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1987.
Naomi had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for thirty-one years, until her retirement in 2005.
She was a member of the Keokuk Church of the Nazarene.
Naomi was devoted to her family. She greatly enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family and making a lifetime of treasured memories. Naomi enjoyed taking car rides to enjoy the sites. She loved to watch the birds outside her window and also loved listening to all her chimes. She enjoyed the simple things in life.
She is survived by four sons, Randy Davis and his wife Diana of Keokuk, Dennis R. Davis of Keokuk, Craig A. Davis of Keokuk, and John Davis and his wife Heather of Montrose, IA, three daughters, Melva J. Hardman of Keokuk, Diana D. Pennington of Keokuk and June Davis of Keokuk, one step daughter, Vicki Plue of Columbia, MO, thirty grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Helen Stoner of Columbus, IN.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Melvin Davis, Jr. one daughter, Cheryl L. Stice, brothers, Frank, John, Bobby, Marion Hawley and Leonard Hawley in infancy, sisters, Ella Thompson, Louise Ihrer, Kate Duncan, Bernice Simon, Betty Hulse and Rosemary Hawley in infancy, grandson, Christopher R. Hardman and great-granddaughter, Addison Davis.
Visitation was held from 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.
Burial will be at a later date.
