Obituary

Nancy Jane Pyewell, 61 of Keokuk died Monday, January 26, 2015 at her home. She was born October 24, 1953 in Keokuk the daughter of Herman and Susie Pennington Mason. She first married Larry Benge and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2003. On August 27, 2005, Nancy was united in marriage to John Pyewell in Keokuk. He survives. Other survivors include, two sons, Jamie (Regina) Hansen of Carthage, IL and Shane (Lori) Benge of Clearwater, FL, one daughter, Mindy Saunders of Keokuk, one step-son, Todd Pyewell of Monmouth, IL, four grandchildren, Jessica, Kelsey, Trenton and Reagen, six brothers, Frank (Cindy) Mason of Keokuk, Oscar (Jen) Mason of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Terry (Michelle) Mason of Argyle, IA, Stanley Mason of Keosauqua, IA, Jimmy (Anna) Mason of Keokuk, and Rodney Mason of Drakesville, IA, three sisters, Vickie (Tony) Bakalar of Oskaloosa, IA, Linda Guymon of Keokuk, Alice (Steve) Mason of Bowling Green, MO and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Darrell and Trell and one brother-in-law, David Guymon. Nancy graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1972 and then attended Kirksville Community College in Kirksville, MO. She had been employed at Walmart in Keokuk as a receiving supervisor for twenty five years. Nancy enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She loved to travel and one of her favorite destinations was the beach. Nancy enjoyed going to the casino and trying her luck. She also enjoyed watching Everyone Loves Raymond and Cheaters on television. Nancy was a loving wife and devoted mother and her greatest joy was to care for her family. Her grandchildren were the sunshine of her life and she loved spending time with them. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk with Pastor Wesley Davis officiating. There was no visitation. Memorials may be made to Lee County Hospice.
