View Video Tribute Myrtle M. Reeder, 96, of Keokuk, IA, formerly of Warsaw, IL died Sunday, October 30, 2011 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. She was born on February 8, 1915 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Everett and Bessie Angel Reeder. Myrtle graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1932. On April 28, 1944, Myrtle enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and proudly served her country during WW II. She received an honorable discharge in 1946. After serving in the Marines she started her career at Wilkenson Drug Store in Keokuk. She continued her employment at Graham Hospital in Keokuk and later worked for Dr. Kasiske and Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA in the office. Myrtle was a member of the BPW and several card clubs in her earlier days. She loved to garden and her beautiful flowers were a rainbow of colors. She also loved to read and make crafts. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by one sister, Barbara Briggs of Garden City, KS, three nieces, Sharon Fuller of Sutter, IL, Karen Bangert of Burlington, IA, and Debbie Briggs Hardwick of the state of Washington, four nephews, Paul Reeder of Ohio, Steven Briggs, Ronald Briggs and Kent Briggs all of Kansas, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond and Leonard Reeder, one sister, Mary Frances Ellenberg and one nephew, Bruce Briggs. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight or to the donor's choice.
