Mildred M. Kisling, 86, of Farmington, IA, died Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the Ft. Madison Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA. She was born on May 4, 1919 in Boynton, MO, the daughter of John E. and Lela Verl Yardley Simpson. On October 16, 1937, Mildred was united in marriage to Roy H. Arnold in Pollock, MO. She married Virgil Kisling in 1962 in Pollock, MO and he preceded her in death. In her younger years she had been employed at Westside Drugstore in Milan, Mo. She began her nursing career in 1948 at the Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville, MO. She and her husband Virgil managed and operated the Memphis County Nursing Home from 1963 – 1968. From 1968 - 1988 they owned and operated the Kisling Nursing Home in Memphis, MO. Mildred retired at the age of 69. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Kirksville, MO. Mildred enjoyed the crafts of embroidery, and quilting. She loved to watch professional baseball and game shows on television. She liked to travel whenever she got the chance and enjoyed listening to country music, especially Randy Travis. Family was very important to Mildred. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was very devoted to caring for her family. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Ann Clark of Farmington, IA, Sharon G. Hicks and her husband John of Kennett, MO and Sandra K. Arnold of Quincy, IL, eleven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, two nephews, Gary Woods and Terry Simpson, and one sister-in-law, Nadine Simpson of Kirksville, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, three children, Barbara Sue, Bernice Mae and John Dewayne, one sister, Marjorie Mae Woods, one brother, Leland Edward Simpson, two sons-in-law, Leland "Bud" Clark and Jim Arnold, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 13 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Lowell Beeler and Reverend Dorothy Reed officiating. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery in Memphis, MO.
