Obituary

Michael Francis Keefe, 58, of Keokuk died Thursday, January, 29, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. He was born on January 13, 1957 in Keokuk the son of Byron F. and Alice Kathryn Tallman Keefe. Mike attended Keokuk High School and while in Louisiana he received his GED from the Alexandria High School in Louisiana. He later attended Carl Sandberg College. Mike was a veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country from 1975 to 1980. Mike had been employed by Tri State Grain Inspection in Keokuk and in more recent years by Electric Boat Company in Groton, CT. He attended the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk. Mike loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could fishing. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. He is survived by two daughters, Tessie Morton of Warsaw, IL and Chelsie (Franklin) Williams of San Diego, CA, one granddaughter, Ashlyn Grace Williams, six brothers, Raymond (Sheryl) Tallman of Keokuk, Estel Brown of Keokuk, Pat Keefe of Keokuk, Kirk (Jackie) Keefe of Keokuk, Byron (Pamela) Keefe of Muscatine, IA and David (Amy) Keefe of Argyle, IA, two sisters, Susie Riquier of CT and Mary (Kent) Edmiston of Keokuk and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Keefe, his mother, Alice Keefe Mahoney and step-father Earl Mahoney and one brother, Chuck Brown. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 3rd 2015 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
