Michael "Charlie" Theodore Derr, 51, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, January 13, 2012 at his home.
He was born on January 18, 1960 in Keokuk, IA during one of the worst blizzards of the year. He was the youngest son of Howard "Ted" and Marvel "Pete" Montgomery Derr.
Charlie had lived in Keokuk most of his life and attended Keokuk Schools.
He married Carol Real and they later divorced.
He was employed at Biddy's Conoco, Ferro Sill, Hill Printing, Steel Castings and JMH Industries during his working career.
Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He also loved to share stories with his family from Ohio, when they came to visit.
He is survived by two daughters, Amy Jo Derr-Jones and her husband Harley of Donnellson, IA, Courtney Derr of Donnellson, IA, two sons, Brad Derr and his wife Katie of Montrose, IA and Adam Derr of Donnellson, IA, six grandchildren, Tara Jones, Wyatt Jones, Ruby Jones, , Madelyn Kline, Marcus Derr and Aidan Derr, five sisters, Yvonne Derr of Keokuk, IA, Cathy Derr of Keokuk, IA, Jeanne Taylor and her husband John of Hamilton, IL, Patricia "Dutch" Salama of Keokuk, IA and Toni Glasscock and her husband Mike of Keokuk, IA, one brother, Larry Derr of Keokuk, IA, two aunts, Ethyl Montgomery of Keokuk and Rose Skates of Toledo, Ohio, one uncle Roger Derr and his wife Carolyn of Urbandale, IA, 28 nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and nephews and his good friends, Don and Ana King and Jeremiah Martin all of Keokuk, IA.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Muhamed Salama.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 17at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Tony Nye officiating. Burial was in the Charleston Cemetery in Charleston, IA.
