Merle D. Eberline, 75, of Keokuk, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
Merle was born January 4, 1951, to Donald H. and Ruth Sellers Eberline. He graduated from Marshalltown High School and continued his education at the University of Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business.
In September 1984, Merle was united in marriage to Katherine Gammon. Although they later divorced, they remained good friends until her passing in 2019.
Merle was a thirty-year board member of the Keokuk Art Center and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He loved traveling, especially to national parks, and was an avid camper. He greatly enjoyed water sports, including fishing trips to Minnesota and boating on the Mississippi River, and was especially skilled at waterskiing and jet skiing. During the winter months, he also enjoyed cross-country skiing.
Merle was employed at Hubinger/Roquette America as Director of Information Services until his retirement in 2002.
He is survived by two sisters, Marita Kamada (Shigeo) of Fukuoka, Japan, and Donita Fredricks (Larry) of Des Moines; one brother, Neil Eberline of Newton; along with many nieces and nephews and close friends, Gene Lynch and Susie Keck.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Art Center.
