Melissa Axtell

Melissa Joy Axtell, 53, of Wayland, Missouri died Monday, June 24, 2013 at her home in Wayland, Missouri. She was born May 21, 1960 in Keokuk, Iowa the daughter of Ralph Leroy and Eva Jean Allen White. On June 19, 1999 she was united in marriage to Michael Axtell in Argyle, IA. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Tasha Thomas and her husband Joshua of Detroit Lakes, MN and Amber Axtell of Wayland, MO two sons, Michael Axtell of Wayland, MO and Chris Brown of Martelle, IA, a step daughter, Colleen Coonts of Davenport, IA, a step son, Tony Cady of Detroit Lakes, MN, five grandchildren, Moorea, Olliver, and Irelan Brown, Joshua and Jason Thomas, three sisters, Rebecca Woodside of Carthage, IL, Kitty Davis and her husband Steven of Kahoka, MO and Robin Garlough and her husband Shawn of Clinton, IA, three brothers, William White and his wife Linda of Argyle, IA, Kevin White of Kahoka, MO and Terry White of Keokuk, IA along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charles, Richard and Ralph White and a step daughter, Lacy Axtell. She was employed at the Clark County Nursing Home as a certified nurse aid since 1995. Melissa enjoyed sewing, crocheting, camping, fishing and horses. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27th , 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO with Pastor Dan Deatrick officiating. There was no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.
