Obituary

Meleese "Mel" Young, 94, of Kahoka, MO died Friday, May 16, 2014 at her home in Kahoka. She was born October 2, 1919 in Luray, MO the daughter of James and Ollie Mathies Bishop. She was united in marriage to Floyd P. Young on January 23, 1934 in Kahoka. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1995. Floyd and Mel enjoyed many years of traveling, visiting people and places. She also enjoyed researching genealogy and gardening. She is known for writing the Bill Young book. She is survived by six grandchildren, Larry Brammer and his wife Laura of Davenport, IA, James Brammer of Moberly, MO, Ronda Flores of Davenport, IA, Clarence Buehl of Maquoketa, IA, Troy Buehl and Kimberly Smith both of Davenport, IA, eight great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, one half brother, Arthur Young of Mesa AZ, two half sisters, Betty McFarland of Keokuk, and Norma Wright of Val Praiso, IN along with numerous nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Paula Miller and Ruby (Dodie) Simmons both of Kahoka. Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, John Young, two daughters, Evelyn Brammer and Patricia Buehl, grandson, Jessie "Roy" Brammer, Jr., three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Luray Methodist Church in Luray, MO with Pastor Jim Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Combs Cemetery in Luray, MO. Pallbearers were Larry Brammer, Charles Miller, Jr., Troy Buehl, Caleb Buehl, William Young, and Clarence Buehl. Honorary Pallbearers were Linna Cooper, Laura Brammer, Renee Riffle, Paula Miller, Ruby (Dodie) Simmons and Brittani Miller. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
