Maxine Maddox, 85, of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA.
She was born on August 26, 1922 in Memphis, MO, the daughter of Ray and Tressie Stevens Monroe. On September 20, 1947, Maxine was united in marriage to Jack L. Maddox at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1999.
Maxine graduated from Memphis High School in Memphis, MO with the Class of 1940.
She had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk.
Maxine enjoyed gardening and canning the produce of her garden, cooking, and playing golf and bingo.
She is survived by two daughters, Reta Ann Derifield of Valdez, AK, and Barbara Lynne Judkins and her husband James of Melbourne, IA, two sons, John Maddox and his wife Susan of Keokuk and Jim Maddox and his wife Julie of Keokuk, five grandchildren, Michael Laux, Ric Irish, Andy Judkins, Jackson Maddox and Marcus Maddox, two sisters, Madelyn Courtney of Memphis, MO and Doris Nye of Platte City, MO.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Elise North.
Funeral serviceswere held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk with Reverend John Tyler officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
