Maxine Esther Kellum, 79 of Keokuk, died Friday, December 12, 2014 at her home. She was born March 12, 1935 in Salem, IA the daughter of John M. and Wilma J. Holcomb Kreiss. On September 29, 1951 she was united in marriage to Delbert Kellum in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death. Maxine had been employed as a bus driver for the Keokuk Community School District for four years and the Wyaconda and Luray Community School District for nine years. She had also been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for sixteen years. Maxine enjoyed many years of traveling and visiting places. She loved listening to country music and attending concerts. She also made a record with her brothers and nephew. Maxine adored her grandchildren and leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories for them to cherish. She is survived by seven children, Jane Moore and her husband Richard of Keokuk, Delberta Sprague and her husband John of Grandview, MO, Kevin Kellum and his wife Chris of Keokuk, Brenda Skebba and her husband Randy of Keokuk, Stephanie Davis and her husband Melvin of Keokuk, Shelly Ellingboe and her husband Tom of Keokuk and Sherry Fisher and her husband Richard of Belton, MO, thirty-five grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, one brother, David Farman and his wife Lynn and her sister in law, Linda Kreiss and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carla McKune, grandchildren, Amanda Kellum and Kevin Moore, great-grandchildren, Gavin Moore and Aiden Levi Dade, three brothers, Joe Kreiss, Ron Farman, and Merle Kreiss and one sister, Margaret Shepiro. A Gathering of Remembrance was held at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 with family meeting with friends at that time. A private family burial was held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
