Max J. Baumgartner

Max J. Baumgartner, 98, of Marshalltown, IA, formerly of Burlington, IA, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA. He was born on January 30, 1920 on the family farm in Germanville, IA, the son of John and Rama Alter Baumgartner. Max was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during WW II, from 1942 – 1946. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star. On July 2, 1983, Max was united in marriage to Dorothy Harrison in Fairfield, IA. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2005. Max farmed in his early years and then worked for twenty two years as a Shell Oil Distributer. He retired in 1986. He loved to play pinochle, go boating and water ski. He is survived by his daughter, Maryann Hesse of Prescott, AZ. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Baumgartner and twin sisters, Eda Altman and Ada Neece. There will be no services.
