Mary Lou Petty, 80, of Keokuk, IA died Friday, May 6, 2011 at her home. She was born June 30, 1930 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Allie and Hilda Fowler Brisby. After the death of her parents Mary was raised to adulthood by her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Gertrude Fowler and her Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Ruby Fowler. Mary was united in marriage to Charles Arthur Petty on June 30, 1950 in Sandusky, IA. She was a lifelong resident of Lee County, IA. She graduated from Montrose High School in Montrose, IA, and was a member of the high school choir. She was a Homemaker and for a short time was employed at Thomas Truck in Keokuk, IA as a secretary. Mary enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, doing needlework, working on crafts, puzzles and collecting dolls. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Petty of Keokuk, four daughters, Kathryn Ferguson and her husband Gale of Alexandria, MO, Shirley Kobel and her husband Bill of Dallas City, IL, Patricia Becker and her husband Charlie of Monticello, IA, and Ruth Dresser and her husband Mike of Montrose, IA one son, Charles J. Petty and his wife Lisa of Keokuk, IA, twelve grandchildren, Lora Eddleman and her husband Robbie, Zeb Ferguson and his wife Tavia, Renea Vanek and her husband Jeff, Sheila Wagner, Alan Wagner, Chad Becker, Nikki Yonkovic and her husband Russ, Brent Dresser, Rachel Dresser, Johnathon Petty, Paige Petty and Tyler Petty, six great grandchildren, Ariel LeMatty, Melissa Vanek, Jocelyn Vanek, Allyson Vanek, Lucus Eddleman and Owen Eddleman, two brothers, Jack Brisby and his wife Shirley of Montrose, IA, Eugene Brisby and his wife Judy of Montrose, IA, and one sister, Ruby Westermeyer of Keokuk, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Ruby Fowler, her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Gertrude Fowler and a cousin, Harold Fowler. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Burial was in the Sandusky Cemetery, Sandusky, IA.
