Mary Margaret Peikett, 83, of Hamilton, IL died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at her home.
She was born on August 27, 1932 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Samuel and Anna Cook Booth. She graduated from the Saverton, MO High School.
On March 3, 1952, Mary was united in marriage to Glenn Peikett at the Christian parsonage in Hannibal. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2013. Glenn and Mary first lived in Quincy, IL, then spent twenty-one years in Plainville, IL and then moved to Hamilton, IL twenty-five years ago.
Mary was a former member of the Salem Church in Quincy, and a former member of the Eagles Women's Auxiliary and the Women of the Elks. She had been employed at K-Mart for fifteen years.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and spent her life making a wonderful home for her husband and children. She was a fantastic cook and everyone loved to come to her house to eat. In her younger years Mary had a large vegetable garden and used the bounty of her garden in her cooking. She loved to dance. She and Glenn enjoyed going to dances where they danced the night away. She enjoyed folk art crafts and painted beautiful scenes on saw blades that will be treasured by her family. She also enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Harlequin novels. Mary made special memories with her friends at the Hamilton Family Restaurant spending many mornings sharing a cup of coffee, conversation and laughter. She had a quick wit and great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
She is survived by two sons, Glenn Edward Peikett of Hamilton, Richard S. Peikett of Sutter, IL, one daughter, Christine Rosson of Hamilton, four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, John Booth of Saverton, MO.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
According to her wishes, there will be no services.
