Mary Louise Land Donaldson, 79, of Ft. Madison, IA died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital, Ft. Madison, IA. She was born on April 25, 1934 in Kahoka, MO the daughter of Byrl and Margaret Speake Kay. She first married Melvin Land they later divorced. She then was united in marriage to Ed Donaldson. He preceded her in death in 1992. Mary had worked in the kitchen at the Montrose Health Care Center in Montrose, and had been a cook at several local restaurants. She also volunteered in the kitchen at the Moose Lodge in Ft. Madison. She enjoyed reading novels and working in her garden. Mary was a wonderful cook and was happiest when she was in the kitchen cooking for her family. She loved all kinds of animals and enjoyed feeding the squirrels, watching the birds and taking care of her cat. She is survived by two sons, Bill Land of Lafayette, LA, and Steve Land and his wife Denise of Keokuk, one daughter, Janice VanGinkel of Ft. Madison, IA, seventeen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, two brothers, Donald Kay of Oklahoma and Byrl Kay of Germany. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Chuck Land, one daughter, Debra Land, one granddaughter, Annabelle Land, one grandson, Johnny Sanders, five brothers, Charles, Richard and Clarence, William and Earl Kay. A time of remembrance for family and friends will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday at the Edge (Crossview Fellowship Church) 1807 High St. in Keokuk.
