Mary LaFern Susan Gipe, 74, of Kahoka, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka. She was born June 30, 1936 in Clark County, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Henry and Rhoda Phillips Heimer. In March of 1967 she was united in marriage to Herman Keith Gipe, Sr., in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1995. She worked at Dadant & Sons and retired in 1996. LaFern loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed embroidering, traveling, collecting cookbooks, making quilts and gardening. She is survived by two sons, Johnny Moss of Keokuk, IA and Herman Keith Gipe, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Alburnett, IA, four daughters, Martha Andrews and her husband Dan of Walford, IA, Betty Snow of Palo, IA, Mary Lange and her husband Phil of Lisbon, IA, Juanita Schreiber and her husband Nathan of Revere, MO, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister, Rovene Moss and her husband Forrest of Kahoka, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Lawrence Heimer and William Heimer. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Revere Cemetery in Revere, MO with Pastor Gary Whitaker officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
