Mary K. Koch, 77 of Montrose, IA passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Montrose Health Center.

Mary was born February 8, 1947 in Shelbina, MO, the youngest of ten children born to Otto and Sarah Ragar Morgan. Mary was raised by her neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jesberg.

She married G. Leroy Koch on April 7, 1962 in Palmyra, MO. They were married forty-one years when he died on December 2, 2003 in Winchester, MO.

Mary later moved to Keokuk where she and Percy "Marty" Mortimer became best friends. In 2021 they moved to Montrose. They enjoyed flea markets, yard sales and auctions. Mary especially liked shopping from catalogs. Marty died September 19, 2023.

In December 2023, Mary moved to the Montrose Health Center. She immediately loved it there, this was the family Mary had been missing. She couldn't remember all her friends' names, so she simply called everyone "Kid". Mary enjoyed the live music and dancing, coloring, jokes and riddles, cooking activities, Bingo and visiting. She was known for her fashion sense, her joyful ensembles featuring colorful shoes and socks with matching clothing, sweaters and costume jewelry.

Mary is survived by her brother, George Morgan of Lentner, MO, one brother-in-law, Gary Koch of Billings, MT, her four-legged companion, Bubba, and his new mom Mona Haegar of FL, caregivers, Missy Mortimer and Elaine Foley both of Montrose, and a host of friends (all called Kid) at the Montrose Health Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a baby in infancy, one sister-in-law, Josie McNabb and eight siblings and their spouses.

A memorial celebration of Mary Koch's life was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 3 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. Burial will be next to Leroy in the Day Cemetery in Winchester, MO at a later date.

The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
