Obituary

Mary L. Jinkens, 83 of Wayland, MO died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born December 31, 1930 in Kalaski, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Alma Schantz Roberts. On August 27, 1949 she was united in marriage to James Jinkens in Kahoka. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2002. She was employed with Drydens in Keokuk and retired in 1978. Mary gave unselfishly to others and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She had a deep faith in God and was an active member at the First Baptist Church in Wayland. She was also a member of TOPS, Royal Neighbors and the St. Francisville Garden Club. Mary was an avid bowler, liked crocheting and playing yahtzee and the Wii with her grandkids. Every Saturday she would enjoy the day gathering her lady friends and driving to town. She was a devoted mother who greatly enjoyed caring for her family. There was nothing more treasured in her life than her family. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Severin and her husband Tim of Wayland, one son, Rickie Jinkens and his wife Debbie of Wayland, 10 grandchildren; Shawn Howell, Bethany Jinkens, Jerry Narney, Russell Jinkens, Shiloh Eggers, Shannon Jinkens, Joni Fotjik, Ricky Jinkens, Scott Severin and Shelby Sonnenburg, 4 step grandchildren; Justin Swinderman, Christina Englund, Megan Walton and Josh Swinderman, 21 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, two sisters; Edith Burchette of Quincy, IL and Joanna Cunningham of Bedford, IA, and one brother; Harlan Roberts and his wife Marilyn of Kahoka along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and Estin Jinkens, two sisters, Bernice Roberts Gutting and a sister in infancy and one great grandchild. Funeral services was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Wayland with Pastor Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Frazee Cemetery in Wayland. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Wayland or the Alexandria Baptist Church.
