View Video Tribute Mary Jane Leffler, 77, of Keokuk, IA, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family and best friend. She was born on November 12, 1930 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Benjamin C. and Beulah Hill Gilliland. She married Bennie Wayne Leffler in 1949. She later married Robert Keller in 1976. Mary Jane graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1948. She had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for twenty-nine years. She then worked in the office of Dr. DeGala in Keokuk for twenty years, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed watching television, especially soap operas and Court TV shows. She also enjoyed making sweet pickle relish, salsa and tomato juice and sharing it with her family and friends. Mary Jane had a great sense of humor and was known for her wit. She was a loving mother and grandmother and had been devoted in caring for her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and often gave them rides around their property in her golf cart. She is survived by two sons, Robert LaVerne Leffler, Sr. and his wife Linda of Warsaw, IL, and Danny Wayne Leffler and his wife Lois Dawson of Keokuk, IA, one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Denning and her husband Kelly of Keokuk, IA, eight grandchildren, Kimberly Sue Moore and her husband Dan, Robert LaVerne Leffler, Jr. and his wife Patty, Mark Adam Denning and his wife Jessica, Jason Eugene Denning and his wife Megan, Daniel Alan Denning and his friend, Trista Symmonds, Lawrence lavern Wagner, Loreen Elaine Wagner, and Kelli Lynn Davis, seven great-grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Moore, Jack Charlie Leffler, Heather, Laura Michael Davis, one brother, David Gilliland and his wife Joyce of Moline, IL, several nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Anne Helmick of Keokuk. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Terry Massey officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
