Mary Belle Brandon

Mary Belle Brandon, 89, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Birkwood Village in Fort Madison, Iowa.

She was born January 23, 1937, in Unionville, Missouri, the daughter of Osa I. Hanel Burns and Nova O. Burns. She graduated from Keokuk Senior High School.

Mary was first united in marriage to Larry Burger. To this union, two children were born, Linda and Brian. They later divorced. On January 11, 1969, she was united in marriage to David F. Brandon. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2014.

Mary was employed at Union Electric at the Keokuk Dam and later worked at Lee County Abstract until her retirement.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Madison and was also active with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (G.W.R.R.A.).

Mary enjoyed traveling and, along with David, visited 48 states, including Alaska, on their motorcycle. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, especially playing board games, putting together puzzles and reading. Mary also enjoyed attending live music performances and making memories with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Tweedy of Keokuk; three grandchildren, Michael D. Tweedy, Angela L. Tweedy and Elizabeth Glynn; five great-grandchildren, Brian McCord, Ellen Burger, Taylor Edwards, Logan Ames and Eliot Tweedy; two sisters, Annie Comstock of Montrose and Rita Loper (Ellis Loper) of Springfield, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Brian Burger; her grandson, William “Billy” Burger; and her brother-in-law, Larry Comstock.

A private family graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk at a later date.

The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
